The Tree as a Symbol of FMDSA

The tree has always been a universal symbol of many things, including wisdom, protection, and strength. Specifically in terms of Fibromuscular Dysplasia, the tree's branches signify the arteries affected by this disease, and life itself.

Tall and strong, the tree also represents beautifully, how by developing roots and growing, we grow and branch out, reaching towards the sky, and provide shelter for those in need as well as general awareness about FMD.

Trees are the only living thing that continues to grow throughout its lifetime, as is our hope for the FMDSA. Together we can help to educate and support.

"Though a tree grows so high, the falling leaves return to the root."
Malay proverb

(Note: You will also see the FMDSA sometimes use a 'string of beads' as another symbol of FMD, because in the most common form of FMD (medial) the patient's arteries take on a similar appearance, so this is also a fitting symbol for many FMD patients. )
